Batteries
Used batteries constitute a form of hazardous waste. However, their safe disposal requires little extra effort. At Rhodes University, staff and students are encouraged to take their used batteries to the Chemistry Department for safe disposal.
Prevent fire risk - cover the terminals of 9V batteries! Click here for more info.
In the wider community, residents may place their used batteries in specially marked containers at Pick 'n Pay, Peppergrove Mall.
