Benita Bobo, a PhD candidate in the department, recently attended a conference held at the Birchwood Hotel and OR Tambo Conference Centre. This 5th Annual National Doctoral Conference (ANDC) was being hosted by the National Institute for the Human and Social Sciences (NIHSS) which Benita is a fellow of. As an annual event, the conference brings together NIHSS funded PhD fellows in their second and third year of study and aims to create and foster student-centred approaches to doctoral research development.
This year’s conference theme was “Building and Dynamising the Humanities and Social Sciences”. Benita was one of over one hundred doctoral candidates nationally who submitted a full paper for this conference. She was named one of seven finalists for the best paper of the conference for her paper on “A reflective multiple case study approach to understanding partner relationships within the context of community engagement at Rhodes University”.
