David completed his undergraduate degree in Geology and Environmental Sciences at the University of Johannesburg in 2012, and attained his Honours degree in Geology at Rhodes University in 2013. His Honours project focused on microprobe dating of monazite with application to the tectono-metamorphic history of the Namaqua metamorphic belt. He is currently specialising in sedimentary and low-temperature geochemistry: his MSc project focuses on the stratigraphy, provenance, and alteration characteristics of ferruginous shales of the Gamagara/Mapedi Formations that overly high-grade iron ores of the Transvaal Supergroup in the Griqualand West Basin. His hobbies include sport, music, being out in nature and spending quality time with his girlfriend.
