1975 Class Reunion

?

Prof Roderick Walker, Head and Dean:  Faculty of Pharmacy welcomed the Pharmacy Class of 1975 who were back at their alma mater after 40 years of being in the "real world".   Out of the 60 guests, 40 people of the attending group met their partner at Rhodes and you can therefore imagine the amazing vibe that the weekend held.

Ashley Magnus was the initiator and organiser who coordinated the special reunion, a very special thanks to him for taking the time to make this happen. ?

The event kicked off with a Cocktail Party on the Friday night with lots of chatting, catch up and reminiscing.

Saturday morning presentations kicked off with Kelvin, providing an entertaining and beautiful description of Botswana:  How, when and where

Then Barbara with her heart wrenching story of losing Trevor, her son in the Himalayas and her journey to put up a memorial to him.

And then Viv with her fabulous sense of humour and wit as she related her tale of growing old.

Then it was off for tea, but first a look at the old photos of the classes of Pharmacy from way back when. A superb tea was provided by the Faculty of Pharmacy in their staff common room and then a tour of the new impressive facilities was organised.

Sirion Robertson one of the only two “constants” at Rhodes University with his interminable wit and storytelling, provided a most enjoyable tour of campus.

Saturday night, the old Motel beckoned and the tables were beautifully decorated and set by Rhodes Catering and the food was top class. The Deputy Vice Chancellor Dr Peter Clayton delivered an excellent and informative speech.

Sunday morning the reunionists set off for Lalibela Game Reserve, where all were treated to an adventurous game drive and three of the Big Five were spotted and then this was followed by an excellent lunch spread, and a lesson in African Drumming. Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end and so it was, with this event.
