Victoria Mxenge House is an A grade res that is a fair walk (500m) from Main Campus.
The 62 rooms in Victoria Mxenge House are carpeted and have
- a single bed and mattress,
- a bedside cupboard,
- a sink and mirror,
- a table and chair,
- a bookcase,
- a desk lamp,
- a wardrobe,
- a notice board (prestik can only be used on the wooden cupboard doors and not on the walls),
- a wall mounted bar heater and
- a waste paper basket.
Linen is provided to the students by the Housekeeping staff- a sheet, a duvet and a duvet cover, a blanket, two pillows and two pillowcases. Students can bring their own linen but they are then responsible for the laundering.
Students can connect to Resnet (internet access from the student’s room) and get support from a fellow res student, the Resnet Rep, in this regard.
The residence has a laundry area with three washing machines and three tumble dryers. There are also two common rooms with televisions and a video recorder and a DVD player. The televisions have DSTV. There are two small kitchen facilities supplied with a communal microwave and fridge.
