In his new book, Servings of Self-Mastery, alumnus and Google South Africa Director, Dr Alistair Mokoena shares a powerful message of personal empowerment and growth.
Motivated by a deep desire to make a meaningful impact in people's lives, the book becomes a reflection of his life purpose.
Dr Mokoena said this journey of writing was not just about sharing wisdom, but about igniting the spark of greatness that resides within each individual.
The key message of the book resonates with a universal truth: everyone has the potential to achieve their life's ambitions, but it begins with mastering oneself, said Dr Mokoena.
“Self-awareness, self-love, self-esteem, self-forgiveness, self-confidence, self-control, self-care, and self-respect are all aspects of self-mastery,” he said.
Delving into the concept of self-mastery within the South African context, Dr Mokoena highlights its universality. “The principle of self-mastery transcends geographical and cultural boundaries, underscoring the idea that while one can influence others, true change starts within oneself,” he said.
“This perspective is particularly poignant in a South African setting, where individuals face unique challenges and opportunities for growth.”
Reflecting on his formative years at Rhodes University, Dr Mokoena credits Rhodes University for playing a pivotal role in his journey towards self-mastery.
“bet36体育投注_bet36体育在线—激情赢盈中√ in a small town like Makhanda, away from most of life's distractions, gave me the space to reflect and introspect on my life choices. The small lecturer-to-student ratio allows for personal attention which is rather affirming for young minds. Knowing that I was studying at an institution "where leaders learn" made me believe in my future self as a leader. Rhodes University is where my journey to self-mastery began,” he said.
