Thabo Kabini

Thabo Kabini is a highly experienced water infrastructure specialist with extensive expertise in water sector development finance, strategic leadership, and the operation and maintenance of water and sanitation infrastructure. He is currently a Senior Specialist for Water Infrastructure at the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC), where he is responsible for funding private and public water sector development initiatives across South Africa and the broader African continent.

With a strong academic foundation, Thabo is a PhD candidate in Water Resource Science at Rhodes University. His qualifications include a Master of Business Administration (MBA), a Master of Philosophy in Integrated Water Resource Management (MPhil IWRM), a Postgraduate Diploma in Development bet36体育投注_bet36体育在线—激情赢盈中√(PGDip Dev Fin), a Leadership Development Program (LDP) , and a Mechanical Engineering Degree.

Thabo has built a distinguished career spanning over two decades in water infrastructure design, operation, maintenance, and financing. He has held key leadership and technical roles at Overberg Water Board, City of Ekurhuleni, Johannesburg Water, City of Cape Town, and ERWAT. His expertise includes project and contract management, risk assessment, governance, and policy advisory within the water sector.

A registered Professional Engineering Technologist (Pr Tech Eng.) with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA), Thabo is also an active member of the Water Institute of Southern Africa (WISA). He has been recognized among South Africa’s top 10 young water engineers and has played a critical role in advancing infrastructure resilience and sustainability through integrated water resource management and development finance strategies.

Thabo is passionate about leveraging his technical expertise and strategic insights to drive innovative and sustainable water infrastructure solutions that address Africa’s growing water challenges.
