I spent four of the happiest years of my life at Rhodes, ’71-’74. In those days we were a segregated university. Thankfully times have moved on. Rhodes has nearly trebled in size, has a proud academic record, and is one of the finest examples of campus integration in the new SA.
But with this progress have come new challenges, not the least of which is giving young people from disadvantaged backgrounds access to what Rhodes has to offer.
For some 15 years I have been donating to Rhodes, in a small way, to enable this. If Rhodes can give these students the start it gave me then very cent is well spent. Hopefully then, my regular monthly donation will contribute positively to the future of this great, but troubled, country.
