On Wednesday, 12 March, the French and Francophone Studies hosted its first French Club event of the year. Students from all levels from French 1 to Honours, gathered to take part in an exciting and interactive session celebrating French and Francophone culture.
The event began with brief introductions, allowing students to meet and engage with one another in a welcoming environment. This was a great opportunity for students across different levels to connect and share their enthusiasm for learning French and Francophone cultures.
Following the introductions, Lisakhanya Mayekiso and Sinenjongo Xenza led a fun and engaging game focused on guessing Francophone countries. Participants had to identify different French-speaking nations based on clues, testing both their knowledge and quick thinking. The game sparked a lot of laughter and friendly competition, making it a highlight of the event.
After the game, everyone indulged in a well-deserved break filled with lively conversation and shared enthusiasm for the language. The atmosphere was filled with excitement as students reflected on their experiences and looked forward to upcoming French Club events.
Overall, the first French Club event of 2025 was a resounding success. It set the tone for an engaging and enriching year ahead, bringing together students with a shared passion for French language and culture. With such a promising start, we eagerly anticipate the upcoming activities that will continue to foster a love for French in a fun and interactive way.
