Talks Series
The Lucid Lunchbox is a student-led talks programme that was founded in 2012 by Simone Heymans and Sikhumbuzo Makandula as part of the Visual and Performing Arts of Africa (ViPAA) research programme. Various artists, curators, scholars and arts writers have presented their work as part of this series, including Georges Senga, Mohau Modisakeng, Kemang Wa Lehulere, Athi Joja, Sharlene Khan, Thando Mama, Nontobeko Ntombela, Raphael Chikukwa, Ayanda Mabula, Portia Malatjie, Rat Western, Gavin Krastin, Cedric Nunn, Usha Seejarim, Mocke van Veuren, Callen Gracia, Joseph Coetzee, Russell Bruns, Byron Eksteen, Chiro Nott, Athi-Patra Ruga and Doung Anwar Jahangeer.
Presenters in 2017 included Dineo Bopape, Beth Armstrong, Francois Knoetze, Khanyisile Mbongwa, Sethembile Msezane, Andrew Tshabangu, Rehema Chachage and Thania Petersen.
2018 Talk Series were held at the Arts Lounge during the National Arts Festival and presented by Igshaan Adams, Bernard Akoi-Jackson, Wallen Mapondera and Moffat Takadiwa, The African Social Sculpture Cooperative comprising of Aaron Samuel Mulenga, Dylan McGarry, Rachel Baasch and Stary Mwaba.
